Many students of the Osun State University have found themselves stuck in a serious dilemma after investing their fees in MMM.


Prof. Labode Popoola, The Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, has said on Saturday that the institution would collect the over N2bn debt students owe it whether they are able to recoup their money invested in the Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox or not.

According to The Punch, Popoola said,

Some of them (students) used their school fees to invest in MMM. But whether MMM comes back or not, it is their headache. I have told them that we are not going to open the portal. If I see that a critical mass of the students pay, then we will decide to open the portal just for about 48 hours. But they must pay first. 

This is how we accumulated a debt profile of over N2bn, we cannot continue this way. They just have to pay the money.”

But MMM ‘investors’ have not been able to get their money back as of the time of filing this report.

In a chat with an MMM representative, one Juliana ‘Consultant’, told one of our correspondents that payment had not begun on Saturday but that the scheme would “pay soon.”

Some accounts are frozen and ‘GH’ have commenced,” she said.

Over 12 persons have reportedly died in an accident on Oyo/Ogbomoso Road after a commercial bus skidded off the road and plunged into Odo-Oba River yesterday.

An eyewitness told Punch that the accident occurred when the bus was trying to avoid a head on collision with another vehicle that lost control and veered off its lane.

The Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Yusuf Salami and the Police Public Relations Officer, of the State Command, SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the accident.

Ajisebutu said the bodies of the victims had been taken to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.

He added,

The driver of the Mazda bus lost control of the vehicle and plunged into the Odo-Oba River. 

Nine adults and three kids died on the spot and their bodies have been deposited at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso. 

There were three survivors. The police, with assistance from local drivers, pulled the bodies and passengers out of the river. The vehicle is still in the river.”

On his own, the FRSC boss added,

From the report I had, the bus was travelling to Ilorin and as it approached the slope leading to the small bridge over the river, an articulated truck took over the path of the road and, in an effort to avoid collision with it, the bus driver veered off the road and plunged into the river. 

It was difficult pulling the passengers out of the river despite volunteer rescuers that arrived at the scene early. 12 people died immediately.”

Popular Nigerian singer, Douglas Jack Agu, better known by his stage name as Runtown, is currently trailed with dirty controversy after he was accused of sleeping with one of his promoter’s fiancee, which has led to the cancellation of their engagement.

HKN Gang boss, Davido, had earlier dropped the hint of Runtown’s messy romance with his promoter’s babe in a Snapchat post where he warned people to ‘Keep Y’all wife away from Runtown.’
The controversy however fuelled up on the Instagram page of popular online platform, The Comment Section, where an online user confirmed Davido’s warning, adding that Runtown is guilty of the illicit affair with the fiancee of popular promoter of King Kong known as BadGuy Toba, who had last year, thrown a viral engagement proposal for his babe with a N6 million engagement ring.

It was gathered that BadGuy Toba found out about the incident between his fiancee and Runtown whom he had allegedly introduced to his girlfriend innocently last year, and immediately called off the engagement and deleted all photos of his would-be bride from his social media account.

Arsenal moved up to third as they downed Swansea City 4-0 in Paul Clement’s first Premier League game in charge of the hosts on Saturday.
