Nigerian-American singer Jidenna won Best New Artist at the 2015 Soul Train Awards held on Sunday, November 29. While accepting his award, Jidenna recalled how his father pushed him to be the best. He remembered a time he brought home a test from school with a 98 score. Instead of a pat on the back, his father asked him: "Where are your other two points?". Congrats to him!

Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Areg­besola has said that all States must look in­ward for survival as funds com­ing to them from the federation account can no longer support their development projects.

He said, “We must at this point tell ourselves the truth, there is no money coming from the Federa­tion account, 34 million barrels of Nigeria’s crude oil are on the sea without buyers”.

In a deliberate attempt to support local economy and wealth creation, Aliko Dangote has promised to construct a 500 megawatt power plant for Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna and Katsina States. The Chairman and CEO of Dangote Group of Companies made the pledge through his representative, Engineer Mansur Ahmed, the executive director stakeholders management, at the 36th Kano Trade Fair held in Kano. In his address, Engr. Ahmed noted that without power industries and commerce will cripple and businesses seriously decline as has been the situation in Kano State.

After the Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Saturday voided the return of former Senate President, David Mark, of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the March 28 Benue South Senatorial District election, Mr Mark has said whatever the case may be, if the election is conducted again, he would still defeat Daniel Onjeh of APC, who challenged his victory in court.

I concur with Mr. Deji Adeyanju. The most heartless and reprehensible thing that our government could have done is to cover-up the fact that 105 of our soldiers were killed by Boko Haram a few days ago. To do such a thing is simply evil.

My name is Mirabel. I happened to have an unavoidable attraction for my lecturer in my second year in the university. It all began one fateful morning when were supposed to have a lecture, FORTRAN.

It happened that our old lecturer, was retiring and a replacement was brought to continue with the course. The outgoing lecturer came into the lecture hall that afternoon with this young, vibrant looking man who introduced himself as Mr. Desmond. He was meant to take over from retiring lecturer.

Former part-time Massachusetts police officer accused of shooting up his own patrol cruiser and calling in a hoax bomb threat has died after apparently committing suicide.
Bryan Johnson, 24, was found dead early Thanksgiving morning in his Millis, Mass. home, the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said.
Prosecutors said there were no signs of foul play and his death is not considered suspicious.

Nigeria’s earnings from oil exports dropped further in October, with a loss of about $1.3 million (about N256.1 million), as the slide in global crude oil prices continued to negatively impact the country’s economy.

The loss was a result of drop in average crude oil price from $47.315 a barrel in August to $46.96 in September, said the minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun.

The Islamic State group claimed
responsibility Friday for a deadly attack on worshippers at a Shiite mosque in northern Bangladesh, as fears grow of a rise in sectarian violence in the mainly Muslim country.
US-based monitoring organisation SITE reported the group, which has claimed responsibility for a number of recent attacks in Bangladesh, said it had targeted the Shiite worshippers.

Christian Hickey was shot in the leg on October 12 alongside his mother, Jayne, 30, by two men. According to the police, two men knocked on the door and reportedly asked for the boy's father, Christian senior. After a brief conversation, one of the men fired a number of shots which resulted in Jayne being hit twice in her legs and Christian being shot once in his right leg.
