Police said a 33-year-old man from Newbury Park was reported missing at about 1pm on Sunday and he was found injured in the Oaks Lane and Leyswood Drive area.
The man had serious injuries to his wrists, a Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said, and officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived.
London’s Air Ambulance was also assigned, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the man had previously been arrested on January 28 on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis.
The death is being treated as non-suspicious and the man’s next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course and the death has been referred to the coroner.
Formal identification is yet to take place.
The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has been notified.
A formal referral to the IPCC will take place in due course.
