- A kerosene explosion has killed two children and injured three others in Akwa Ibom State. According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred in Ikono Ibom Clan in Uyo Local Government Area of the state.

One Mr. Nsikak Michael, a tricycle operator and father of three suffered severe burns from from the kerosene explosion, which also resulted in the death of two of his children.

According to Nsikak, who also operates a small poultry farm near his house in Ikot Enyingne Ikono, said: “I bought kerosene from a filling station along Idoro road (name withheld) as I closed from my Keke business.

“Upon getting home, I decided to light up the lantern in my poultry farm to keep my birds warm but needed to top up the kerosene in the lamp as it was soon going off. “So I came out of the poultry farm just as my kids followed. As I attempted to light up the lantern there was a loud explosion with a big flame of fire which left me unconscious.”

One of the two children died few hours after, while the other died the following day at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH, where they were rushed to treatments.

The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Transition Committee, Mfon Ben and Wife, Bridget visited the victim Mr. Nsikak who lies critically ill at the Hospital as a mark of concern and love for the people. At the hospital, another woman from same community with her three months old baby was also victim of kerosene explosion.

Ben condoled with the families over such incidents and advised members of the public to be cautious and vigilant. He assured that the perpetrators of such unwholesome act would soon be brought to book.

A radio presenter may be trying to avoid the same fate which befell Miss Anambra from happening to her by crying out over threats by a comedian to leak her lesbian sex tape recorded  6 years ago.Ogbuji Grace Amarachi took to Instagram to call him out..She wrote;

'We all have done  foolish things one time or the other in our lives...Have actually done lot of foolish things,yeah lot of stupid things indeed...Way back 2010/2011, was yet to gain admission,done with secondary education,somehow I got myself entangled in a lesbo relationship not because I was a lesbian ,out of curiosity after reading and seeing pornographic videos/images of girls making out,I just had this deep urge to have a feel of what it's like.‎

Well my foolish dream came true when somehow I actually got entangled in what I had always been curious to have. Just this once in my life,a video was made,well it felt good and seem sane to me then. Sometime in late August/mid September this year @ominiaho whom I actually met through the babe who did the video,he did threatened  to release the video online, way back 6years ago he did ask me out which I never did accepted and I never will,i simply wasn't interested. All of a sudden he popped up this year,calling,asking to see me,saying he's got a job for me and all that, asking to see me,fixed a date and all that which I didn't turn up to anyways, when he saw his plans to have me wasn't working he decided to threaten me with the video which happened like way back  6years ago.  How he got the video I dont know? If he actually do have the video I don't know either! 

I spoke to Drea who made the video today on my way back from church, just to clear the air even tho we haven't seen nor communicate in like years and she was shocked stating she doesn't have the video,she deleted it a long time ago and she's sure @ominiaho doesn't have the video,but still i'll drop this here.‎ Am I scared? YES! Did I make a mistake? YES,i did made a nasty mistake!! Have I moved on,YES I have!!!...I don't want to be another Chidinma Okeke,seeing chidinma okeke case I have no other choice but to voice out now. Am not going to lie or claim it was photoshopped, I did something stupid and am way over it and have moved on,but just incase one day something pops up,its all in the past!

Have moved away from there,am in my future, a better place,working towards been a better person and making sure all my dreams/visions/ambitions become a reality and till I die i'll keep appreciating God grace who brought me out of Darkness into his marvelous light, i'll continously appreciate @praisefowowe whom God used as an instrument to bring me out of my mess unto God marvelous light. Been celibate for a long time,I was so close to having sex two weeks ago but when I remember how far have come,how far It took me to build my relationship with God,i don't want to ruin/destroy what have buildt with God by engaging in premarital sex and thus starting afresh to build my relationship with him (God) again. I know as Christians when you fall you get back up again and keep moving...I really don't wanna fall nor fail God.

- Former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, who is on trial for alleged mismanagement of $2.1billion arms funds, would like former President Goodluck Jonathan to be his witness, it was learnt yesterday.

Dr. Jonathan has faulted the charges against Dasuki, claiming that the ex-NSA could not have stolen about $2.2billion votes for arms.

“We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army,” he said in a recent interview at the Oxford Union in the United Kingdom.

Speaking with The Nation's  correspondent, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), the ex-NSA’s counsel, said Dasuki wanted Jonathan to testify in court.

“It will be desirable for Jonathan to testify for the ex-NSA. It will throw greater light into grey areas. And it will serve the interest of Justice. It will be fantastic for him to go to court to testify. Dasuki is an agent of a disclosed and known principal.”

Another member of the legal team said:

“With what Jonathan said in London, the only logical thing for him to do is to see it through.“We want Jonathan to follow-through. If he backs out, it will be bad.But, frankly speaking, I pray for a political solution to the problem because of the characters involved.“Both the accused and the government should embrace a political solution to the problem.”

A source, who spoke in confidence, said Dasuki’s defence team was banking on Jonathan’s testimony.

The source said:

“All is set for the defence of Dasuki, who is still insisting on an open trial to let Nigerians know the beneficiaries of the arms cash. “One of those who may testify is ex-President Goodluck Jonathan whose remarks in London appeared to be the first phase of the war chest of the ex-NSA. You know the ex-NSA said he acted on Jonathan’s instructions in disbursing some of the cash. And from the look of things, the ex-President is now ready to accept responsibility for whatever Dasuki did.“We believe it has reached a level that Nigerians must know what really happened, how funds were disbursed and who got what.“This is why a secret trial is not a viable option, with the way things are going.”So far, we have secured the consent of Jonathan to appear in court for Dasuki. This will make the trial worth it.”

It was learnt that a traditional ruler allegedly benefitted from the arms funds to the tune of about N500million.

Another source added:

“Dasuki has a list of highly-placed beneficiaries from the arms cash. A particular traditional ruler got about N500million as a gift from the government through the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA). There are many hidden beneficiaries whom Nigerians must know. “Nigerians will be shocked by some revelations which will come up during the trial. Nothing short of open trial will let Nigerians know the truth. We are ready for this.”

Dasuki had on December 13, 2015 said he disbursed the funds on Jonathan’s instructions.

- A university student enrolled at a small college in Pennsylvania was arrested and charged with attempted murder after authorities learned that he had poisoned his pregnant girlfriend’s glass of water with bleach in an attempt to abort the fetus, authorities said.

Theophilous Washington, a 20-year-old from Washington, D.C. who is attending Millersville University in rural Pennsylvania, was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder of an unborn child and reckless endangering.

‘The charges are twisted and the intended result nothing short of horrifying,’ District Attorney Craig Stedman said in a statement Friday.

Washington and his girlfriend, who is two months pregnant, were at his home on Thursday.

When she was about to leave on Friday morning to return to her dorm, authorities said he offered her a drink of water that had been stashed in the refrigerator.

After she drank the water, she returned to her room and began to feel a burning sensation in her throat. She started vomiting and eventually called 911.

In interviews with police, Washington acknowledged putting bleach in the water bottle from which his girlfriend drank, prosecutors said.

'Washington, the father of the child, admitted to putting bleach in the water bottle,’ prosecutors said. ‘He had stated previously that he did not want the female to have the child.’

The woman was examined by a doctor, who determined that she and the fetus were unharmed, according to the district attorney.

Brian Hazlett, Millersville’s vice president of student affairs and enrollment management, called it ‘a horrible, unconscionable event.’

‘It is very disturbing to me personally because I consider our students to be our family,’ Hazlett said in a statement. ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and we’re doing everything we can to make sure she is OK.’

Washington remains in custody on $1million bail pending a November 4 preliminary hearing.
