A Nigerian man is on the run after he reportedly killed his pregnant girlfriend during a scuffle in Yaba area of Lagos state. In a report by Sun News, it was gathered that the suspect began showing up at the woman's apartment before the sad encounter that took her life.

The sudden interest by the man raised her suspicion as she couldn't understand what the suspect was looking for in her house. The victim's sixty-four–year-old grandmother, Mrs Gbemisola Agbola could not hold back tears over the sad death of her granddaughter.

The late Islamat Bolaji was beaten to death with her pregnancy by her estranged lover, one Okiki Arisekola, a commercial bus driver, during a scuffle on September 16. The incident happened at No. 50 Wright Street Adekunle, Yaba, Lagos, where the victim lived with her grandmother.

Mrs Agbola’s grief stemmed from the fact that she had lost Ismalat’s mother, Aishat at just exactly the same age, albeit in a different circumstance. Losing the one she had doted on in consolation was understandably a cruel stab.

The deceased’s father, Isiaka Bolaji, was also inconsolable. Islamat was his first daughter and was nursing a little child she already had with her killer.

Indeed, Saturday Sun learnt that it was a quarrel over the custody of the little baby, a girl named Kemi that led to the victim’s death. The suspect, Arisekola, said to be on the run, had reportedly been frequently visiting the baby and his mother, a development that aroused suspicion, due to the no love lost between the two lovers.

“He has not been visiting my daughter, but recently he just started coming and my daughter grew suspicious of his visits. On the fateful day, when he came, they were together at first, then he left, on his return they started quarreling nobody paid them attention, because that was how they always fought. But, this time, it led to a physical fight and Okiki beat my daughter into a coma. After some minutes that he had left, my daughter fell and became motionless. We rushed her to the hospital and it was there she died,” Bolaji recalled of the incident.

Her distraught mother-in law picked the thread of the story from there. Pointing to a spot on the floor, she motioned the reporter to come close and behold.

 “This is where I stood when I saw my granddaughter faint right before me just as her mother gave up the ghost,” she said. 

“She was just recovering from a fever attack. She had not done any work for close to a week. On that day, she decided to treat herself with some medication. She asked me to hold on to the child, an 11-month-old baby, I took the child and placed him on my lap. Not long after, Islamat’s sister, Kemi came in and asked me to give her the baby, I did and Kemi caressed the baby. She stepped out with her only to meet Okiki standing outside. He demanded to take the girl away and Kemi gave him the baby. But when Islamat saw Okiki with the child, she rushed to take the baby from him. They dragged the baby between them, while Kemi stood looking at them. Okiki tried to leave with the baby, but Islamat didn’t allow him, because she feared that he was going to use the child for rituals. It was a passerby that called my attention to Okiki merciless beating of my granddaughter, I almost had high blood pressure, I rushed out and called my granddaughter. As I was leading her back into the house, she fell and fainted. The first hospital we took her to didn’t have doctors on call, but before we could get to the health center she died. It was confirmed by the doctors there,” the grandmother said.

The suspect that killed his girlfriend

Mrs. Agbola could not confirm speculation that the deceased was pregnant before her death. She said: “There had been rumours about her being pregnant, but she said that she was not, so I didn’t ask her who the father was.”

Saturday Sun learnt that Arisekola had been pressurizing to take the child, but the family had refused, even as she denied responsibility for the pregnancy.

He was said to have been dating the victim since 2015 and the union produced the baby girl. However, he showed no move to marry her, apparently because he was still trying to find his feet. But he took responsibility for his daughter.

According to sources, the couple even broke up at a time, with Arisekola abandoning both mother and child, staying away for a long time. Things reportedly changed when he saw Islamat may have been pregnant again probably for another man. He then stepped up visits and demands to have his daughter back.

Efforts to reach the suspect in hiding proved abortive.

A Facebook user named Abigail Gold who says her friend’s cousin was last Monday killed by boyfriend for Yahoo Plus money rituals has warned ladies to be careful.

A fake doctor plying his trade in the Ikeja area of Lagos state has been arrested after his drug prescription had reportedly led to the death of many. 

A 42-year old fake doctor, John Anopuem has confessed that he gave drugs to patients without prescription as such he could not say the number of the patients that may have died in the process of using those drugs.

PM Express reported that the suspect also confessed that he administered drugs through guess work. Sometimes it worked and at other times it was harmful to the patients which might result to death. The Orlu Imo State-born was arrested and paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgar at Ikeja, Lagos.

It was gathered that the suspect was arrested at his store located at Seriki Aro Street in Ikeja where the police also recovered some suspicious drugs as exhibits. Some of the drugs recovered from the suspects include Emzolin, Tuxils, Codeine and many others.

Parading the suspect with other criminals, Edgar said it was one of the efforts the police was making to make the state crime free that led to the arrest of the suspect.

Edgar thanked the public for partnering with the police on his new police policy to combat crime in the state. He promised that the police will continue to put up their best and work with the public so that the criminal elements will have no hiding place in the society.

While speaking to journalists, the suspect admitted that he was actually selling those drugs without giving normal prescription as recommended.

"It was a mistake I made and I could not say it was not harmful and I cannot confirm the number of the patients that may have died as a result of wrong prescription of the drugs," he said.

He said if he was given another opportunity, he would not do such and hoped he will settle the matter with the police. But contrarily, CP Edgar said the suspect will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.

A heartless police officer identified as Inspector Samuel Imana attached to the area command in Warri, Delta state reportedly shot three persons by mistake yesterday.

According to Sapele Olofofo, he was said to be acting under the influence of alcohol. The sad incident took place at a child's dedication.

Two of the victims, one Elvis Kugbere and another man have been confirmed dead, while the last one is in coma at UBTH.

The incident reportedly happened at Ejewo Street, Off Okere Ugberikoko Road, Warri, Delta State. According to an eyewitness Inspector Imana accompanied three (Internet Fraudsters) Yahoo boys to a baby dedication, trouble was said to have started when the yahoo boys started spraying money, the police officer started shooting in display of his loyalty, all of a sudden, mysteriously the inspector who was one of the escort pointed his gun directly at the crowd in close range and started shooting at them.

The first deceased was immediately rushed to First rank Hospital within the area where the Divisional Police Officer,"B" Division in warri, CSP Anieteh Eyoh and other Senior Officers dashed to see him before he was transferred to Syracuse Hospital.

He later gave up the ghost three hours after losing so much blood. The Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident, noting that the policeman is under investigation and he is being tried for professional misconduct.

Nemesis has finally caught up with a 22-year old graduate of History from Abia State University, Uchechukwu Oriaku, who was allegedly caught yesterday afternoon r*ping a teenage girl in his house in Olokoro, Umuahia South LGA of Abia State. 

The angry youths of the area descended on him and beat him to a pulp. Emmanuel Maduka Nwazue who shared the story wrote:

This is 22-year old Uchechukwu Oriaku, a native of Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA of Abia State. He's also a graduate of History from Abia State University, Uturu. He was caught this afternoon molesting a girl of 10 years + in his house. According to the girl's father who is a furniture maker, Uchechukwu met him this morning at home and hinted him about a certain business he needed both of them to execute. They scheduled to meet at 2pm at his workshop for further discussions on the said business. This was because he was visiting a building site that morning. According to him he was still at the site when he received a phone call from one of the boys in community that Uchechukwu had been caught molesting his daughter.

The girl while narrating the incident said Uchechukwu came to their house when her father had left and took her to his house with the notion that he bought her a new pair of slippers. On getting to the house he started touching her privates. Apparently, this he was doing when a group of youths got feelers about the sordid event and caught him in the act.

The culprit himself said he wanted to give the girls a pair of slippers. When he was asked if he specifically bought the slippers for the girl, he said it belonged to his 18 year old sister. Imagine a 10-year-old plus wearing a pair of slippers belonging to an 18 year old. Well, he blamed the devil for the act and maintained that he never had any intention of raping the girl since she was still a minor.

A man accused of sexually assaulting and impregnating an 11-year-old girl claims she raped him when he was asleep.

Justin Armstrong of Springfield, Massachusetts, USA, is accused of abusing the girl for 18 months before she informed one of her mother's friends.

The 38-year-old man was arrested after tests showed the teenager was four months pregnant.

The pregnancy has been aborted to save the girl form serious complications and a DNA examination was carried out on the foetal tissue.

Defense lawyer, Anna-Marie Puryear, said the outcome would help prepare a stronger case against the Armstrong.

The defendant has voluntarily submitted a DNA sample and is cooperating with police, Puryear added.

Prosecutors at Springfield District Court said Armstrong repeatedly told the victim not to tell anyone what was going on.

Assistant District Attorney Jill O'Connor said "when the defendant was told the youngster was pregnant, he claimed she may have 'raped' him while he slept".

Judge Robert Murphy set bail at $50,000, according to Republican newspaper.

Armstrong will appear in court again on August 24.

A driver has shocked people with his recent action after seizing his girlfriend's two sons in Nasarawa and disappearing with them. 

Haruna Suleiman, a 30-year-old driver, was on Monday arraigned in a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Nasarawa State, for allegedly abducting his girlfriend’s two sons, NAN reports.

He, however, denied committing the offence, while the judge, Mr Albert Maga, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000, with a surety in like sum.

Suleiman, who resides at New Karshi, in Nasarawa State, is standing trial for alleged abduction.

The prosecutor, Agabi Auta, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 16, at 12.16 p.m. at Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

Auta alleged that one Patricia Jarguma, the defendant’s girl friend and who resides at Area 5 Aso Mararaba, on July 17, reported the matter at the ‘A’ Division Police Station Mararaba.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant, on July 16, allegedly abducted the girlfriend’s two children, Abdulsalam nine, and Abdulrasheed, six, from his girlfriend mother’s house at Mararaba.

 When the defendant went to the house to see the children, he pretended he wanted to buy them biscuits, but instead abducted them to an unknown destination,” he told the court.

Auta said the offence contravened Section 273 of the Penal Code. The magistrate adjourned the case until Aug. 4, for hearing.

According to reports, a 300l Mass Communication student of Abia State University was brutally raped and even stabbed in the process. The attackers made away with valuables, ATM cards and more.

Hostel F was thrown into turmoil after a robbery incident which took place inside the hostel at about 1AM today involving room 6 and room 24.

According to some of the students, a group of guys reported entered the hostel through the Toilet by removing the window and burglary of one of the toilets.
They went straight to room 6, covering their faces with wrapper. Collected their phones. Laptops, their ATM cards and pins before marching them to the kitchen where one of the room mates was stabbed and seriously injured.

One of the girls took the risk of running to the common room but found no security personnel there. The hostel mates were alerted around 4AM after room 24 had been robbed.

The girl who raised the alarm chose to remain anonymous but said she was able to do so because the guy who robbed them told them to go outside the room and this gave her the opportunity to lock the door and make calls outside the hostel while shouting to draw attention.

The guy escaped through the same toilet and the girls started receiving debit alert from their various bank accounts.

It was gathered that the school security who came later said they noticed some doors are faulty and this must have been the reason why they were able to gain access to the rooms.

The deputy Vice Chancellor academics, Prof Udo Nwokocha was present at the scene as a representative of the Vice Chancellor he said the management has decided to refund the stolen items to the affected girls and thorough investigation would Commence immediately and adequate measures would be taken on the security personnels assigned to that particular hostel if it is found out that there was negligence of duty.

Also present at the scene were the dean of student affairs, the chief security officers of the school and the Vice Chancellors personal security who all promised to do thorough investigation into the case.
