1. The Edo State governorship election was conducted on Wednesday amid controversy. While some agents were nabbed for electoral malpractices, contending candidates were accusing each other of rigging the process.

2. Early results from Edo State guber election show that the Peoples Democratic Party is leading the ruling All Progressives Congress. The APC chairman, John Oyegun lost his polling unit to the PDP.

3. The death has been announced of former Inspector General of Police, Sir Etim Okon Iynang. The late former police boss passed on at the age of 85 at Reddington Hospital, Lagos.

4.The Lagos State Government has debunked allegations made by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu alleging that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and his Kaduna State counterpart, Nasir El-Rufai were in Edo State for the election.

Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde on Wednesday, described the allegations by the PDP candidate as reckless and disgraceful.

5. The House of Representatives has suspended the former Chairman of Appropriation Committee, Hon. Abdulmumini Jibrin for a period of 180 legislative sitting days.

The House also barred Jibrin from holding positions of responsibility till the end of the 8th Assembly over his recent outburst in the media regarding the alleged padding of the 2016 budget.

6. Governor Nasir El Rufai has denied the report that he was in Edo State on Wednesday in respect of the ongoing guber election. The governor, who asked the general public to disregard the rumour said he was not in Edo as claimed by the PDP candidate, Ize-Iyamu.

7. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the recent abduction of some Landlords in Isheri area of Ogun State. The suspects were arrested in Ondo State following the order by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

8. Telecoms giant, MTN, has denied the allegation that it illegally repatriated 13.92 billion dollars from Nigeria.

The company’s Nigeria Chief Executive, Ferdi Moolman, said the allegations made against them were completely unfounded and without any merit.

9. The Commissioner of Environment in Borno State, Alhaji Waziri Imam is dead.

Waziri died at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital shortly after he was admitted for an unknown ailment on Wednesday.

10. Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has called on the national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu and the party’s chairman, John Oyegun to stop their ongoing internal war.

Atiku charged them to instead promote the rule of law and due process in the conduct of its affairs.
