A Kogalymavia passenger plane carrying 224 people has crashed in Egypt’s Sinai penunsula.
The airliner took off from the Red Sea
resort of Sharm el-Sheik this morning, and was heading for Russia, according to aviation sources, when it disappeared from
radar. It’s believed the plane was mainly carrying Russian tourists.
The plane was carrying 212 passengers and 7 crew members. 17 of the passengers are
children.Airbus A321 left Sharm-El-Sheikh for St. Petersburg with flight number 7K9268. It belongs to airline Metrojet and was 18.5 years old and was descending with about 6000 feet per minute just before signal was
lost. The captain told ATC after departure of a technical fault and requested a route
change.
Local media says a recovery team is now at the site of the crash.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his government and Nigeria cannot afford to pay forty two ministers and not all nominees that have been screened will have portfolios.
He further went ahead saying, the country has been ‘materially and morally vandalized’ and that
will make him reduce the numbers of ministries.
Buhari disclosed this in an interview with Channels TV and Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, in New
Delhi, India.
The president also spoke about working with certain people introduced to him and answered a
question thrown at him over why he thinks the National Assembly is divided over Amaechi’s ministerial confirmation. Hear him;

The Cross River Government has suspended indefinitely, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Anne Odey, for “flouting civil service rules”, amid a controversy over ban of morning and afternoon prayer sessions in schools.
Jude Ngaji, the State Security Adviser to Gov, Ben Ayade, disclosed this on Friday in Calabar while speaking to journalists.
Mrs. Odey in a statement had directed all private and public primary and secondary schools in the state to stop morning and afternoon devotion forthwith. According to her, the directives came from the Commissioner of Police, Henry Fadairo, in view of the security challenges facing the nation.
The state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Archbishop Joseph Ukpo, in a statement, shortly after Mrs Odey’s ban called on the state government to immediately withdraw such directive, as the state and the students all need God.
The suspension is indefinite.

Boss Jose Mourinho says he “cannot promise” that Chelsea will qualify for the Champions League next season.
The defending Premier League champions sit 15th in the table after winning three league games this season.
Reports have suggested the 52-year-old could lose his job if the Blues are beaten by Liverpool today.
But Mourinho refused to comment on whether he has received reassurances from Chelsea’s board and owner Roman Abramovich about his future.
Asked if he had been given a guarantee, Mourinho replied: “I don’t have to tell you.”
In August, Mourinho signed a four-year contract extension until June 2019, but Chelsea have suffered the worst title defence since the Premier League began and have lost half of their 10 league games this season.
Abramovich has previously axed managers when Chelsea’s place in the Premier League’s top four and qualification for the Champions League the following season had been in doubt.
But Mourinho pointed to the failure of Manchester United and Liverpool to qualify for the Champions League in recent seasons.
The Portuguese added: “Chelsea is a big club. It’s the club that I choose to come to. It’s a club I live in a very specific way every day.
“Liverpool is a big club, Manchester United is a super big club. Last season Liverpool win nothing and didn’t qualify for the Champions League.
“Two years ago Man United didn’t qualify for the Champions League – not even Europa League – and won nothing.
“They are still a monster club, but that’s football.”
Mourinho also declined to comment on two disciplinary matters hanging over him.
The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan boss had until Thursday evening to respond to a misconduct charge relating to his half-time dismissal by referee Jonathan Moss at West Ham.

Mariam Ekanem, a 20-year-old school drop out from Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, said yesterday in Calabar that poverty and lack of where to stay after she gave birth made her sell her two weeks old baby girl for N20,000.
According to Vanguard, Maria, who was arrested by the police along five other accomplices, said her boyfriend who got her pregnant, asked her to abort the baby but said a doctor helped her with free antenatal care and food until she gave birth. This, she added, prompted her to agree to sell the baby when arrangements were made to sell.
Paraded along with Maria were a 55-year-old medical doctor, Okokon Offiong Okoho, the proprietor of Evangel Clinic,of 2, Atu Street; a 70-year-old matron of Sadatoe Maternity located at Umoh Street and a nurse at the maternity who allegedly made the plans to sell the girl to an Abuja-based lady who is now on the run.
However, plans to sell the two weeks old girl was leaked to the police by a Senior Secondary Two girl of NYSC Demonstration Secondary School, Calabar , Maria Elemi, whose parents Maria was living with after she delivered the baby. “When I came back from school on Monday, Maria told me she wanted to take the baby to the parents of the boy who impregnated her since she can no longer cope with taking care of the baby,” she said.
Maria said when they got to Fuller by Inyang Street in Calabar South, they met Mrs Elemi and her daughter in an SUV car, adding that Maria gave the girl to the matron who handed her over to the buyer. She said:
“The woman gave Maria N20,000 and asked her to pay the nurse at the Evangel Clinic and use the rest for herself.” The girl said she became suspicious when the driver of the SUV told the woman with the baby that her husband said she should take her to the airport to catch a flight to Abuja .
“I started wondering why they should take the girl to the airport when the boyfriend to Maria and her parents live here in Calabar,” Maria stated.

Mr Polycarp Okumu, a Mombasa based business tycoon has taken his wife to court after she hired hit-men to murder him so that she can inherit his wealth. Ms Rose Adhiambo and her house help, Ms Doris Akinyi, allegedly hired hitmen to kill Mr Okumu at Beach Road estate in Mombas.
She was detained by the police.
Police Constable Dominic Kiptum told a court that the two suspects and their accomplices conspired to kill Mr Ouma on diverse dates between October 20 and 26.
The wealthy businessman also known by the alias Kamili, claims that he caught his wife red handed withdrawing Ksh 1.2million at Kenyan Commercial Bank, Naivas Branch in Nyali, which was to be used to pay the assassins.
Rose was arrested at the bank while trying to contact the killers so that they can pick the money and execute the evil mission. It was also alleged she had made a previous attempt to kill her husband by poisoning but he miraculously survived it.
Resident Magistrate Viola Yator allowed an application for the two accused to be detained at Bamburi Police Station. The application was to enable police complete their investigations.
The magistrate ordered that Ms Adhiambo and Ms Akinyi be detained at Bamburi Police Station until November 9, when the full trial of the stupid wife and her accomplice will commence.

12 year old Adetayo Adefarasin, a student of Government Junior College, Epe, suffered severe burns to her face, chest, arm and legs after a faulty transformer exploded along Broad street, Lagos as she was trying to board a bus while returning from church on September 20th.
She was rushed to General Hospital, Lagos where she’s still receiving treatment for her severe injury.
The faulty transformer was repaired two days after this incident but according to girl’s family, PHCN have not made any attempt to help the girl who is still in hospital.
Friends say she is a brilliant student and was looking forward to a great future.
The family want to sue PHCN over the incident I hear but haven’t done so yet. The carelessness of these people is worrisome.
They don’t do anything until someone gets killed or injured.

Students of IMG Secondary School, Oke Ado, Ibadan, on Wednesday, expressed outrage after their colleague was allegedly flogged to death by a teacher.
The yet-to-be identified student reportedly slumped and died following severe punishment from a teacher for arriving late to school.
Some properties of the school were destroyed by the students before policemen arrived at the scene.
Chairs and tables, cabinets were destroyed by the protesting students, even as they scattered documents.
Windows and doors of the staff room were also vandalized.
As the protest escalated, teachers and administrative workers of the school took to their heels for fear of being attacked.
An eye witness told Nigerian Tribune that trouble started when the student arrived school after classes had commenced for the day.
“He told the teacher he came late due to illness.
“At that point, the principal, who was passing by asked the teacher the cause of the discussion.
“The principal ordered the teacher to flog the student for coming late and he slumped in the process.
“They tried to resuscitate him but it was too late”, he disclosed.
