Agency Report
Angel Di Maria says that he NEVER wanted to sign for Manchester United.
The Old Trafford flop left Manchester this summer after a torrid 12 months both on and off the field of play.
As his family became unsettled at home, Di Maria’s performances on the pitch faltered and he was quickly ushered to the exit, despite previously costing nearly £60million.
The Argentinian winger has now admitted that he had his heart set on staying at Real Madrid and never wanted to leave the Bernabeu.
But when he was told he was being shown the exit in the summer of 2014, he told Real bosses and his agent that he would favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain, where he now plays.
He told Spanish newspaper Marca:
“My intention was always to stay [at Madrid]. I don’t really know what happened on the inside [of the deal] these are things that representatives deal with. It happens in football.”
Di Maria revealed that things quickly turned around after making an impressive start to life in Manchester, insisting that he fell out with certain individuals at the club.
He said:
“I started very well but then I had problems with people at the club, I started being left on the bench, then my home was robbed. It all just made me want to get out of there as quickly as possible.”
Should Di Maria have stayed at Man United??
