Nigerian teen sensation, Kelechi Iheanacho, has won the CNN Goal of the week award for his wonder strike, that helped the Super Eagles beat Tanzania 1-0 in a dead rubber AFCON 2017 qualifiers tie.
The organisers took into consideration all the goals scored during the recently concluded international break and, the 19-year-old well hit effort from the edge of Tanzania box was selected as the winner.
He was announced as the winner on the twitter handle of the prestigious news network, ahead of every other goal scored during the break, which lasted for two weeks.
Iheanacho’s goal went viral on the Internet with most people praising the technique behind the volley, which separated Nigeria from Tanzania, and, help new manager, Gernot Rohr, start his tenure on a winning note.
Tomorrow when Manchester City take on Manchester United in the Manchester derby, he could be in for a start following the suspension of star forward Sergio Kun Aguero.
