Arsenal finally managed to break West Brom down through Olivier Giroud to give the Gunners a much-needed victory on Boxing Day.
Arsenal failed to break down the stubborn West Brom defence during the opening period on Monday afternoon.
And it looked as if they would have to settle for a point but Giroud managed to break down the Baggies defence in the 86th minute at the Emirates Stadium.

But then they provided evidence that they finally may be ready to stay the course in the race for the title as Olivier Giroud grabbed a euphoric late winner.
Arsenal deserved it in the end; the odds were that they’d score from at least one of their 25 shots. But for so long, you got the sense that the natives were turning here on Boxing Day following two consecutive defeats.
At one point during the first-half, TV cameras at the Emirates Stadium panned to Wenger. Solemn faced, he glanced at Steve Bould next to him before shaking his head. That summed up Arsenal’s opening 45 minutes.
Camped in WBA’s half for virtually the entirety of the opening period, the Gunners players were left just as frustrated as their manager. Their dominance in terms of possession, however, didn’t herald a glut of chances. Far from it.
