- The senate voted down the loan during plenary on Tuesday, November 1.
The Senators said they turned down request for approval for external borrowing due to lack of documents supporting the request as referenced in the letter sent by the President to the upper house of legislature.
Meanwhile, the story is expected to be different at the House of Representatives where the lawmakers in the green chamber are expected to take a different tack.
Majority Leader Femi Gbajabiamila has revealed plans of the House of Representatives to consider and most likely to approve President Buhari’s request to borrow $29.9 billion (about N12 trillion) for capital projects between 2016 and 2019.
He said this during the event called “Changing Lives through Grassroot Support” in Lagos on Monday, October 31.
