The 11-year-old girl is now in the hospital.
WSOC reports that Misty Michelle Flowers, 38, a deputy with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, was showing her service weapon to guests when she accidentally fired the gun and the bullet went through a wall and hit her daughter in the next room.
Deputies arrived at the scene around 11:23 p.m. on Saturday and started to aid the girl’s injuries. She was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Lincoln before being airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The girl was shot in the abdomen and is in stable condition, deputies say. The shooting is under investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation.
