Arsenal are set to be without midfielder Santi Cazorla for around three months as he needs surgery on an ankle injury.
Cazorla has been sidelined since he was hurt an hour into the club’s 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets on October 19.
The 31-year-old will travel to Sweden early next week and undergo surgery on the plantaris tendon in his right ankle, according to the club’s official website.
Cazorla has been trying to rehabilitate the injury but that has not worked and his recovery will only be completed by an operation.
The Spain international has made 11 appearances in all competitions this season and scored two goals, both of those coming in the Premier League in wins over Watford and Southampton.
